Annertech wins Grand Prix, Best Universal Design at 2024 Spider Awards
The 2024 Spider Awards saw Annertech win the coveted Grand Prix as well as Best Universal Design awards for the National Library of Ireland website, a collaboration with design agency bigO.
The evening, which was held at The Mansion House in Dublin on 1 March, was a glittering affair, highlighting Ireland’s best digital work across 22 categories.
“This was our first Grand Prix award and we could not be more excited about winning it,” said Managing Director Stella Power, who attended the awards ceremony with Director of Development Mark Conroy and the project manager, Sean O’Connell.
“To win a Spider Award itself is a big deal, but to win the Grand Prix is mega. We knew from the beginning that the National Library of Ireland website was going to be special.”
Annertech led the project, with digital agency bigO creating the design.
“We had a great relationship, and it culminated in nli.ie, which truly is a superb website that is such a valuable national resource, and a repository of Ireland’s history,” said Stella.
The National Library of Ireland website was shortlisted in three categories: Best Website (SME), Best Cultural Driver and Best in Universal Design. Another Annertech website, Oxfam Ireland, was also shortlisted in the Best in Universal Design category.

“For me, winning the Grand Prix is validation of the massive amounts of hard work we have put in over the years to build Annertech into the best development agency in Ireland,” said Mark.
“We've done that through hiring people who are passionate about their work. We have extremely high standards, and we’ve set up our work practices in such a way that any organisation would be proud to work like us. We’ve won and retained clients that value working with an agency that always pushes to excel.”

Tracey Carney, Managing Director of The Spiders, highlighted the exceptional quality and creativity demonstrated at this year’s awards – which was the biggest to date.
She called the Grand Prix win “well-deserved”.
“Crafting a website for a library is a complex task, yet Annertech and bigO excelled, delivering an outstanding site with universal design at its heart.”
