Annertech’s Local Government website has been shortlisted for a Spiders Award
The website we worked on for Ireland’s local government sector is a finalist in the Best in Universal Design category at this year’s Spiders Awards.
Local government plays an important role in democracy and in the delivery of essential services in Ireland, and a new website was needed to not only provide the public with information about these services but to create a digital hub for local government in Ireland.
LocalGov.ie is just the first step in the Local Government Management Agency’s much bigger plan for the local government sector’s digital environment. Eventually, all shared services will be built as a subdomain of LocalGov.ie.
The plan is for all these services to have the same navigation style and look and feel so users become familiar with the local government sector and recognise this as a trusted source of information. So the design wasn’t just created for localgov.ie, but for all the local government’s shared service websites.

The Local Government Ireland website is the first part of the Local Government Management Agency’s strategy to align all their services under one banner.
“This website is a website of national importance. We were thrilled to work on it, and we were really proud of the final product,” said Emily McLaughlin, who was the project manager for the new website.
“Kudos to our designer Luke Brennan, who worked really hard to deliver a bespoke, beautiful design. To have it acknowledged by the judging panel of the 2025 Spiders Awards is brilliant and we are so excited for the award ceremony,” said Emily.
This is the second time that this website has been shortlisted for an award this year – it’s also up for a National Digital Award.
The 2025 Spiders Awards will take place on 21 March 2025 in the Round Room of The Mansion House, Dublin. It’s a stunning venue, and we are looking forward to seeing some familiar faces again and meeting new ones.

We are so proud of the work we do, and it’s lovely to see it being appreciated, not only by our clients but by the larger digital industry too.
