Annertech projects shortlisted for 9 Ireland eGovernment Awards!

The Ireland eGovernment Awards finalists have been announced – and we are so excited because Annertech projects are on the list nine times!

This year, the Ireland eGovernment Awards celebrate 21 years of recognising and rewarding the pioneers in digital government, who are revolutionising how the public interacts with the public sector. And this year has seen Annertech projects feature across eight different categories.

These websites are very different, ranging from council, library and government department websites to the education sector.

“It is so important that public sector websites are accessible and easy to use,” said Annertech’s Managing Director Stella Power.

“But also these projects are invariably multi-layered and can be very complicated behind the scenes. We are proud that so many of them have been recognised and we are honoured to have played a part in digitally transforming Ireland’s public sector.”

Here are the Annertech projects and the categories in which they have been nominated.

  • Cross-organisation Collaboration Award – Tipperary County Council
  • Education Award – Qualifax
  • Environmental Sustainability and Green Technology Award – Inland Fisheries Ireland
  • General Award – Qualifax
  • Local Government Award – Tipperary County Council and Carlow County Council
  • Multilingual and Internationalisation Award – National Library of Ireland
  • Promoting Ireland Overseas Award – National Library of Ireland
  • Universal Design & Inclusion Award – Inland Fisheries Ireland

Tipperary County Council

Tipperary County Council's new website appears on a laptop, tablet and phone screen.

This website has been shortlisted in both the Cross-organisation Collaboration Award and the Local Government Award categories.

Tipperary County Council was the first Irish council to build its website on the LocalGov Drupal platform, and it embraced the concept of “Build to Share”, contributing back two very important features for other councils to use – the Irish Service Catalogue integration and the Irish language translation feature.

Qualifax

The new Qualifax website.

The Qualifax website has been shortlisted in both the General Award and Education Award categories. This easy-to-use website is the go-to hub for further education in Ireland, and offers course information and other guidance for prospective students, their parents and guidance counsellors.

Besides course information, users can also look up entry requirements, CAO points, career events, accommodation advice and student support.

Qualifax.ie is a website that plays a role in the future of hundreds of thousands of young people in Ireland.

Inland Fisheries Ireland

The new Inland Fisheries Ireland website is displayed on a tablet, phone and computer screen.

The aim of the new Inland Fisheries Ireland website was to propel this state environment agency into the modern era. This sleek website features a number of new online services designed to cut down on users' paper consumption and carbon footprint, making it easier than ever to do things like purchase licences, pay fines and find the information they’re looking for.

The website was shortlisted in two categories: the Environmental Sustainability & Green Technology Award and the Universal Design & Inclusion Award.

Carlow County Council

Carlow County Council's responsive website

Carlow County Council’s new website, which was built on the LocalGov Drupal platform, has been shortlisted for a Local Government Award after combining a gorgeous design and custom development with the accessibility-driven LocalGov Drupal CMS. The result is a beautiful website that makes it so easy for users to find the information they need.

In the spirit of giving back to the LocalGov Drupal project, Carlow County Council funded the build for a Weekly Planning Notices extension. It is a statutory requirement that all Irish councils are legally required to publish all the information about the planning applications granted and declined each week. The new feature gives the council an easy way to add and manage these notices, and for users to be able to filter the notices by year and week number.

National Library of Ireland

The National Library Ireland's new website as seen on a phone, tablet, notebook and computer screen.

The National Library of Ireland website has been shortlisted in two categories – the Multilingual and Internationalisation Award and the Promoting Ireland Overseas Award. This project was led and developed by Annertech, and features a stunning design by bigO.

The NLI website is such an important cultural and national asset, and it needed to be fully bilingual so its Irish users would have exactly the same experience as its English users.

The events and exhibitions calendar is uniquely designed to engage with diverse audiences in Ireland and all over the world, both in person and online. The library’s events such as tours, workshops, talks, courses and its exhibitions – both online and in person – tell the story of Ireland through the National Library of Ireland’s vast collections.

The award ceremony is scheduled for 19 September 2024, at Goldsmith Hall, Radisson Blu, in Dublin. It’s bound to be a thrilling event, with so many incredible projects on display.

Would you like to work with an award-winning team that puts your users first?

These projects are very different but have one thing in common: They’ve been built around the users. Is this something that appeals to you?
