Annertechies will present 4 talks at DrupalCon Barcelona!
The programme for DrupalCon Europe 2024 has just been released, and we’re so excited because three Annertech names are on the bill – and they’ll be presenting four very different sessions.
The release of the DrupalCon programme is always a thrill. It’s scrutinised and well-discussed as people huddle over it, marking off the sessions they’d like to attend at DrupalCon, and this year it’s no different as we gear up for Barcelona in September.
What makes it even more exciting for us this year is that three of our colleagues will be presenting. Here is everything you need to know about our sessions:
‘Over 15000 courses and almost 1000 different providers: Developing and maintaining a custom course marketing system’ by Director of Technology Alan Burke
Ireland’s further education portal, called Qualifax, provides prospective students with information on courses offered by almost 1,000 further education providers across Ireland.
Director of Technology Alan Burke will show attendees how we streamlined the process for gathering, maintaining and distributing information on educational opportunities throughout the country, and how we used Drupal to deliver this.
The sheer volume of content on this site means that the standard Drupal editorial flows were insufficient. Alongside that, there are some custom editorial flows, including bypassing of work in draft, and bulk updates of content based on arbitrary values.

- When: Tuesday, 24 September
- Time: 3.15pm to 4pm

Note
Qualifax.ie was named Education Website of the Year at the 2024 National Digital Awards. The case study gives you a glimpse behind the website.
‘The circular economy: Creating a unique search experience to facilitate an environmentally friendly community’ by Managed Services Director Anthony Lindsay
Annertech’s Managed Services Director Anthony Lindsay will introduce the audience to the new Love Essex website (it hasn't gone live yet), a microsite dedicated to dealing with waste in a responsible and environmentally friendly manner.
Anthony will show the audience how the end user was at the very core of the creation process for this unique approach to functionality, education, and guidance.
He'll also demonstrate how Drupal has been used to transform the editorial experience from a spreadsheet-fuelled nightmare to an easy-to-manage system that sparks delight.

The LocalGov Drupal Microsites platform makes it really easy to oversee a number of microsites. It's a standalone platform, and is really useful for organisations with lots of websites, including big corporations, education institutions, sports bodies and councils.
‘Being well at your desk (and beyond): Practical accessible bitesize activities to support your life-work balance’ by account manager, shiatsu practitioner and yogi Karen Leech
We all know movement, exercise and screen breaks are recommended, do we do them? Probably not as much as we should!
Karen Leech, who is a shiatsu practitioner and is completing her yoga teacher training, will be sharing activities that can fit in your schedule at or near your desk!
No equipment is required, except you and your chair. And ideally a bottle of water - hydration is fundamental to wellbeing.

‘Orange – Using Drupal to foster communities around an external Digital Asset Management system’ by Director of Technology Alan Burke
All of telecommunications company Orange's digital assets are stored and maintained in a third-party Digital Asset Management system called Mastermedia. Alan will discuss how the Annertech team integrated with this system to deliver the powerful search interface required for the project.
He’ll also talk about how Drupal’s Layout Builder can be extended to facilitate fine-grained access control, when it makes sense to use Drupal’s search API, and when it is more practical to leverage front-end tooling.
This is the second presentation that Alan will be giving at DrupalCon Barcelona.
