We’re thrilled to announce that the National Library of Ireland and Inland Fisheries Ireland websites have each won an Ireland eGovernment Award, cementing their standing as pioneers in digital government.

The winners were announced on 19 September 2024, at Goldsmith Hall, Radisson Blu, in Dublin.

Inland Fisheries Ireland won the Environmental Sustainability and Green Technology Award while the National Library of Ireland won the Multilingual and Internationalisation Award.

“We were thrilled that both these websites were recognised,” said Annertech’s Managing Director Stella Power.

“We do a lot of work in the public sector and it can be very rewarding. Knowing that you have worked on a project that is ultimately going to help people access essential services is great. And then to have these projects honoured alongside other incredible websites is incredible.”

Inland Fisheries Ireland

The new Inland Fisheries Ireland website is displayed on a tablet, phone and computer screen.

The aim of the new Inland Fisheries Ireland website was to propel this state environment agency into the modern era.

This sleek website features a number of new online services designed to cut down on users' paper consumption and carbon footprint, making it easier than ever to do things like purchase licences, pay fines and find the information they’re looking for.

“One of the main aims of this website was to offer services online. It was the first time Inland Fisheries had offered users the option of filling out forms and submitting them digitally, so it was a big deal. A lot of effort went into these forms - ensuring that they were easy to use and accessible, and we were really proud of the result,” said Stella.

National Library of Ireland

The National Library of Ireland website is an important cultural asset that houses an enormous amount of information and collections that document Ireland’s history and culture.

The library hosts numerous events both online and in person. These events, which include tours, workshops, talks, courses and exhibitions tell the story of Ireland through the National Library of Ireland’s vast collections.

The fact that many of these events, as well as the library’s vast collections, are available online opens it up to an international audience.

Nli.ie won the Multilingual and Internationalisation eGovernment Award.

“The NLI website is such an important cultural and national asset, and it needed to be fully bilingual so its Irish users would have exactly the same experience as its English users,” said Stella.

“The events and exhibitions calendar is uniquely designed to engage with diverse audiences in Ireland and all over the world, both in person and online, and we are so proud of our efforts to bring Ireland’s history and culture to the world.”
