We’re celebrating the festive season by giving back
Annertech’s tradition of giving back continues this year, with donations to organisations from the health, youth, food charities and animal protection sectors across Ireland and the UK.
Every festive season, Annertech forgoes sending Christmas cards and, instead, makes donations to organisations that are helping others.
“We’ve been doing an annual donation-instead-of-cards tradition for a few years now, and we are thrilled to be able to continue this tradition for 2024,” said Director of Technology Alan Burke.
“It’s tough to decide who to give to – there are so many organisations who are doing incredible work. The charities were nominated by our directors, and then the Annertech team voted for the ones that are closest to their hearts,” said Alan.
Although Annertech has ties across numerous countries, with team members and clients hailing from across Europe (and beyond), the donations are made in the two countries that have Annertech offices.
This year’s recipients range from food banks to the health (and mental health) industries and animal-protection sectors across Ireland and the UK:
Helping Hands
Helping Hands is a food bank based in Solihull, the UK. It is run by Renewal Christian Centre, and has helped thousands of people with emergency food parcels. Helping Hands supplies those who are most in need with food, toiletries and other essentials. It is also part of the Solihull Food Bank Network, where various organisations collaborate to ensure they all follow best practice and standardised procedures, and share any surplus food and donations.
Arthritis Ireland
Arthritis Ireland offers support, services and research for people living with arthritis and lupus. These conditions affect more than one million people in Ireland, from newborn babies through to the elderly, and arthritis is the leading cause of disability in Ireland. The mission of Arthritis Ireland is to support every person living with arthritis in Ireland to live a full and active life, and to minimise the devastating effects that arthritis can have on lives.
The Dublin SPCA
The Dublin Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is the leading animal welfare charity in Ireland, and has been in existence since 1840. The DSPCA rescues, rehabilitates and rehomes sick, injured and cruelly treated animals. It offers a vital lifeline for Ireland’s animals. Donations to the DSPCA help support the society’s rescue service, veterinary care and supplies, spay/neuter programmes, and education and outreach programmes.
Jigsaw
Jigsaw offers a wide range of information and resources in the area of youth mental health, and has offices throughout Ireland. It’s run by a team of supporters, professionals, volunteers and campaigners, who are passionate about supporting young people with their mental health. The goal is to provide early intervention and support to young people, for whatever they are going through.
From feeding people, to saving animals, to helping the youth, to supporting those with a debilitating disability, these organisations are run by people who are doing extraordinary things in our communities.
We applaud all of those who are working for the benefit of others. You’re changing lives, and it’s inspiring others to do the same.
Wishing you a wonderful festive season
Although many of us will be taking time off to rest and celebrate, the internet doesn't take any time off, so we will keep an eye on all things Drupal (and beyond) during the holiday season.
We wish you and your loved ones a very special time as we welcome in 2025.
