The Sunday Times Best Places to Work Ireland 2024 list has just been released, and we are delighted to see that Annertech is on it.

Wellbeing. Job satisfaction. Empowerment. Our corporate culture is built on these tenets, and we have no doubt that they played a huge role in Annertech being named as one of the Best Places to Work in Ireland in the small organisation category.

The Sunday Times Ireland Best Places to Work awards are powered by data company WorkL’s employment engagement survey, which monitors employees’ commitment, well-being and discretionary effort.

Besides the thrill of possibly being added to the prestigious list, the survey results give a company a detailed insight into how employees really feel about their jobs.

“It's an increasingly competitive workplace, and we need to be sure that we're doing our best to retain and attract the talented people needed to drive the business forward,” said Alan Burke, Annertech’s director of technology.

“It's always good to measure yourself against competitors and peers in other industries and see how we stack up, and where we have opportunities for improvement.”

The Sunday Times Best Places to Work Ireland selection process spans the disciplines of behavioural science, psychology and data analytics. To achieve a high overall engagement score, an organisation must score well across a six-step framework:

  1. Reward and recognition
  2. Instilling pride
  3. Information sharing
  4. Empowerment
  5. Wellbeing
  6. Job satisfaction

To be successfully accredited as a Sunday Times Best Place to Work, organisations must achieve a minimum 70% overall engagement score.

“Scoring so well demonstrates that we're doing a good job in cultivating a workplace where people feel respected and can see a place for growth and professional development,” said Alan.

At the heart of Annertech is a culture that prioritises happiness and wellbeing. Some of the things that staff love about the Annertech culture are:

  • The belief that work should fit around personal life. Our team members work flexible hours and have the opportunity to work from home.
  • The culture of trust. We can self-approve our annual leave and change our schedule if something comes up without asking for approval from managers.
  • We like to give back. We work with a number of charities, offering significant discounts and often pro-bono work. Each year we donate money to four charities that are nominated by staff.

“Employee churn is never a good idea and in particular in our industry,” said Alan.

“We're always on the lookout for niches that fit our particular skills across the company. But unless we have the right people on board, we won't be able to execute effectively.”

Everybody wins when employers invest in their staff, says Mark Price, founder of WorkL, the Best Places to Work data partner.

“We do lots of research on extra discretionary effort and find there is a clear correlation between those companies that have happy and engaged workforces and those that get extra from their people.“

“Companies that have happier employees have lower staff turnover and lower sick absence. We can demonstrate conclusively that these companies with higher scores around happiness have higher commercial performance, greater productivity and greater profitability.”

From the outset, Annertech’s goal has been to create a space where individuals are not only encouraged to excel professionally but also to thrive personally.

“This achievement underscores our dedication to fostering an environment where every team member feels valued, inspired, and motivated to bring their best selves to work every day,” said Alan.

Is this the kind of agency you’d like to work with?

We’re happy and engaged, and bring this energy into all the digital experiences we create.
