The Wheel
The Wheel is a support and representative body connecting community and voluntary organisations and charities across Ireland. Established in 1999, The Wheel has evolved to become a resource centre and forum for the community and voluntary sector.
In November 2009, The Wheel invited Annertech to submit a proposal for the redevelopment and merging of their four existing websites into one Drupal site. Over a 6 month period, we amalgamated four websites and member databases into one, added a Twitter-like information sharing feature, ecommerce facility and much more. The main aims of the project were to:
- Migrate all users and content from their existing websites. The sites were built in a variety of ways which included Drupal, Joomla, ezPublish and a static HTML site.
- Provide a way for users to sign-up and pay for training courses and other events.
- Allow users to pay for membership of The Wheel, as well as purchase access to the FundingPoint area of the site.
- Maintain a public directory of charities and other non-profits in Ireland which is updated daily from the Goldmine CRM.
- Enable users to stay connected with the latest happenings in the voluntary sector via The Wheel's Sector Connector news, notices and announcements feed.
- Allow users to register on the site and post job and volunteering vacancies, training courses and ask questions.
- Provide access to a wealth of helpful information on forming and running a charity in Ireland.
