Trócaire

Trócaire is the official overseas development agency of the Catholic Church of Ireland. Set up by the Irish Catholic Bishops in 1973, they work with amazing people to bring about positive and lasting changes in some of the world's poorest places.

Their programmes are carried out with partner organisations so local people drive the whole process and, in turn, their own development.

In April 2009, Trócaire approached Annertech to redevelop their http://www.trocaire.org site and migrate all existing content and users from CMS Made Simple to Drupal. The main project aims are listed below.

  • Migrate all content and users from CMS Made Simple to Drupal, retaining existing paths wherever possible. Over 2000 pages, 500+ files, almost 600 taxonomy terms and close to 100 users were successfully migrated across.
  • Enable users to donate to Trócaire's causes by providing them with both single and regular donation features. Donors are able to give what they can using their credit/debit card, or by setting up a direct debit.
  • Provide a multi-currency shopping cart for purchasing Global Gifts, such as food, water and school lunches.
  • Encourage people to participate in campaigns by emailing their local TD or Minister asking for them to take action.
  • Integrate all donation and campaign actions with the Salesforce Contact Relationship Manager (CRM).
  • Improve the site performance. Utilising Drupal's in-built caching features along with server optimisations, Annertech was able to increase the number of pages served per second to 380.35, making it over 86 times faster than their old site.
